Shiro, The Toy Pomeranian

So for the past few days, I have been wondering in my free time (I don't have a lot of free time. I have to sleep, eat, poop and laze around and I barely get a seconds break.) how to talk about different dog breeds. I thought maybe a directory listing all dog breeds and characteristics would be the way to start, but it seemed impersonal and overdone. This was a head scratcher! Yesterday, while out playing with my buddies, I asked them for their opinion. Now my canine friends love having people go "awww" over them. So they suggested having them interviewed on my blog. Dog interviews? The idea stuck! Today we have a guest, and I hope you love him as much as his family does!

Woof woof! Me and my today's guest, also a friend, are playing around the house! He is a cute, brown Pomeranian or a Toy Pom in short, and his name is Shiro. Shiro is two years old, or fourteen in dog years. (Seven dog years to one human year. That makes me 35. Yes I'm a middle aged lady now!) I'm going to have to do a lot of translation today. This job is hectic. The icing on the cake? Shiro has an accent!

Me: Shiro, say hi to our readers.

Shiro: Woof! Woof woof!

Me: Over excited today aren't you Shiro?

Shiro: Of course I am! So many people will see my cute pictures. I had to do a lot of posing, but it will all be worth it!

Me: We're glad you're here too. So tell us a little about yourself.

Shiro: Well Ginny, by nature, I am an extrovert, mostly alert and curious. Pomeranians can be great companion dogs or show dogs. I am a family dog though. We're a small dog breed, great for small apartments, and unlike most long haired canines, we don't require too much breeding. Brushing my coat once or twice a week is more than enough other than weekly baths. I'm also highly energetic and love being taken out for walks. Pomeranians as a breed are also easy to train and grow very loyal to their families. So all in all, we offer what most big dogs do without the size issue.

Me: Hey! Size is no issue! Anyway, so that's Pomeranian breed characteristics. What about your stats, if you don't mind me asking?

Shiro: No, that's no problem! We can live up to 12 to 15 years on an average. Also, like I said, it's a small dog family, so we're very light - about 3 to 7 pounds and 10 inches high.

Me: Very ideal for a small house in short! This is all quite general. We'd like to know you as an individual more. How about some embarrassing moments?

Shiro: We all have them don't we? I've had many actually. But this one is my favourite. I was looking for something to play with in the dustbin at my place which was quite high. While leaning, I fell in it and after a while I fell asleep. Two hours later, I woke up to my family panicking and trying to find me. Though embarrassing and not on purpose, but it was worth the look on my foster sister's face when she found me sitting in the dustbin!

Me: Wow! They must have had a laughter fest at your expense for days!

Shiro: Tell me about it. I still haven't lived it down!

Me: Yeah well, I had a really nasty fight with a crow once and my sister saw me. It's okay Shiro, they will eventually forget! Thanks a lot for being here with us today! It was great having you!

Shiro: My pleasure Ginny! Though you better put up my pictures!

Me: I definitely will.

So folks, that was Shiro the Pomeranian. He's always over excited, but a sweet, loyal friend. If you guys want to know more about Pomeranian history and origin, you can read about it here. And as promised to Shiro, here are his pictures for you guys to go goo goo eyed over!

I hope you enjoyed having Shiro join us today as much as I did. We'll be back soon with Spotty, another dear friend of mine. Till then, *cute puppy dog eyed look and tail wags* to all of you!
